The Odile Dress
in Noir
A strapless black satin dress, cut above the knee and kept deliberately simple — a trace of white floral embroidery at the chest, and everything else happening underneath. Inside the lining sits a corset we redrew from the 1890s: twenty-four bones in cotton poplin, an interior waist band, a single back zipper. It draws the waist in by 4–7 cm and holds the line from the first hour to the last. Have someone close it for you the first time — the band ties, the zip runs, under a minute together. No foundation garments required — the structure is built in.
Every Odile is built on an internal corset sewn into the lining — the second Solisia Chassis. We drafted it from a corset made in the 1890s, then redrew it for a modern body: the waistline sits lower, so the line runs longer through the ribs and the spring of the hip reads more clearly. The bust is shaped, not flattened.
The first chassis held with eight bones. This one holds with twenty-four — and it is more comfortable, not less. We spent the year studying how a body actually moves inside a boned dress: more bones, each asked to do less, placed where the body bears them easily and absent where it doesn’t. The hold is distributed instead of concentrated. It breathes with you.
The lacing is gone. The Second Edition closes in two moves: an interior waist band that someone ties first — it settles the corset and sets the waist — and then a single back zipper that runs up easily over it. It asks for another pair of hands, and it takes under a minute together; the first wear is the slowest. And the bones themselves have disappeared: a construction we developed for this edition hides the structure completely, so nothing reads through the satin but the line.
The waist-to-hip line — a ratio close to 0.7 — has been the figure painters drew toward for four hundred years. We are obsessed with it. The chassis is our salute to that obsession.
The outer layer is a satin with a deep, even luster — chosen for how it behaves: it holds a clean line over the corset, resists creasing through a long evening, and takes evening light the way a dress for these occasions should. Across the chest, a line of white floral embroidery, drawn from vintage pattern work — the only ornament on the dress.
Inside, the corset is cut from cotton poplin — the cloth corsetmakers trusted for two centuries. We used mesh in the first chassis; we returned to poplin for this one because against the skin, across six hours, cotton is kinder and breathes better. Between the corset and the satin sits a fine interlayer that smooths the structure into the surface.

Fit note. Sizes run XXXS–XXXL (US 00–14). Choose your size by your natural waist measurement below — the corset does the reducing, drawing the waist in by 4–7 cm (1.6–2.8 in) once closed. If your waist falls between two sizes, let your bust and hip measurements decide the direction — up or down, whichever they sit closer to.

Putting it on
Step into the dress. Someone ties the interior waist band at your natural waist — it settles the corset and sets the line. Then the back zipper runs up easily. Under a minute together; the first wear is the slowest, and every wear after comes quicker.

For most wear
Air the dress between wears and steam lightly to refresh. The satin resists creasing, so most evenings it needs nothing at all. If you iron, use a low setting on the reverse of the fabric, and keep the iron clear of the embroidery.
The corset
The interior asks for almost nothing. Airing between wears is enough; never press the boned panels.
When washing is needed
Spot-clean small marks with cool water and a soft cloth. For a full clean, dry clean only.

A note on the rate: twenty-four bones and a fully built corset make this dress substantially heavier than an unstructured one of the same length. Express is priced by weight, so the cost is real rather than a margin — we would rather charge it plainly than fold it into the price of the dress.
